City of Williamsburg Announces Residential Curbside Leaf Collection Schedule

Leaf Collection MAP FOR PRESS RELEASEBetween November and January, City of Williamsburg residents can rake loose leaves to the curb for free collection on select weeks.

The City is divided into two collection routes, Red and Blue. Each route will have five collection weeks, starting the week of Monday, Nov. 6, for those on the Red Route and Monday, Nov. 13, for those on the Blue Route. Collection on each route will occur every other week.

Leaves must be raked to the curb or road edge – not in the street or in a drainage way – by 7 a.m. of the first day of any collection week. Each street on each route will be collected only once during the collection week.

Please note the following guidelines:

  • Place leaf piles in an open area for easy vacuum truck access. Leaf piles behind vehicles, trees, or bushes cannot be picked up.
  • Do not mix sticks or limbs into your leaf piles.
  • In case of rain, crews will pick up on the route where they left off prior to the rain.
  • Bagged leaves can be placed curbside to be collected with garbage on any garbage collection day. There is a 10-bag limit per household per collection day.

Want a reminder when it is your week for leaf collection? Sign up for RECollect at williamsburgva.gov/leafcollection. You can also find more information about the leaf collection program, including an address lookup tool, at williamsburgva.gov/leafcollection. Please note that this service is for residential areas only and some private streets and neighborhoods do not receive this service.

Christmas Trees

City crews will collect Christmas trees on Tuesday, Jan. 2 and Monday, Jan. 8. Trees must be placed at the street before 7 a.m. for collection. Please remove all decorations and lights.
