On Monday, July 3, 2023, the City of Williamsburg, William & Mary, and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation will host the 3rd annual Community Appreciation Day on the lawn of the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg, 301 S. Nassau St.
Started in 2021 as a thank you to the community for their collective strength and resilience throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Community Appreciation Day is now an annual tradition hosted by Williamsburg’s three pillar institutions.
Community Appreciation Day begins at 5 p.m. Monday, July 3, with family-friendly lawn games such as giant Connect-4, giant chess and checkers, corn hole, and ring toss.
The Williamsburg Public Art Council is again sponsoring a community art project. Ahead of the event, Silas Baker, artist of the City’s Papilio Glaucus mural in Midtown Row, will paint a Williamsburg gardenscape. The public is invited to create their own butterflies to adhere to the mural. Alongside WPAC members, Steve Prince, Director of Engagement at the Muscarelle Museum, will also be on site to assist and interact with participants.
Throughout the event, Sno-to-Go will serve free sno-balls and ice cream. The day ends with a performance from the U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band at 7:30 p.m.
This event is free and open to the public.
