UPDATE: Arrest Made in Shooting Incident on 700 Block of Scotland Street

Update (6:53 p.m. March 19):

shooting suspectOn March 19, 2023, at approximately 10 a.m., investigators from our Criminal Investigations Bureau arrested Alvin Lapenze Jackson Jr., 21 of York, in connection with the shooting on Scotland Street earlier in the morning.

Jackson was located and arrested in the 200 block of Barlow Road in York County. He was arrested without incident and transported to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.

Jackson was charged with nine felonies that include two counts of aggravated malicious wounding; one count of malicious wounding; three counts of use of a firearm in commision of a felony; and three counts of shooting of a firearm in a public place causing injury. 

The Williamsburg Police Department would like to thank the following agencies for their assistance in the investigation and apprehension of Jackson: York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, James City County Police Department, William & Mary Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The investigation of the shooting is ongoing. There is not an active threat to the community.

On March 19, 2023, at approximately 1:54 a.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 700 block of Scotland Street.  

Upon arrival, officers found three people who had been shot, a 25-year-old male and two 24-year-old males. Williamsburg Fire units responded and transported the victims to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News. All three victims are expected to survive.

The Criminal Investigations Bureau is investigating the incident.
