Update: Richmond Road Open; Portion of Virginia Avenue Remains Closed

Update (2:35 p.m.): Richmond Road is now open, and people may return to their homes and businesses in the affected area.

Virginia Avenue between Richmond Road and Randolph Street will remain closed for an extended period of time to that permanent repairs can be made. 

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

Update (2:24 p.m.): The gas leak has been secured. Richmond Road remains closed at this time.

All lanes of Richmond Road between Scotland Street and Harrison Avenue are closed due to a gas leak on the 400 block of Richmond Road. 

Virginia Natural Gas crews are currently on scene. 

Residents and businesses are being evacuated between Scotland Street and Harrison Avenue, and on Harrison and Virginia avenues between Richmond Road and Randolph Street.
