City, William & Mary, Colonial Williamsburg Partner for Inaugural Community Appreciation Day

In celebration of the community’s commitment, strength, and resilience throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Williamsburg, William & Mary, and Colonial Williamsburg will host the inaugural Community Appreciation Day on Saturday, July 3, 2021.

The community is invited to celebrate with a concert from the United States Air Force Heritage of America band, sno-balls and ice cream, and a special video presentation – all free of charge – on the lawn of the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg.

Sno-to-Go will begin serving free sno-balls and ice cream at 7 p.m. At 8 p.m., the Air Force band will perform patriotic favorites during the one-hour “A Community Salute to America” concert. Immediately following the concert, the Community Appreciation Day video, a collaboration from the City, university, and Foundation, will be projected onto the Public Hospital façade.

“It's exciting to start a new tradition in the city, especially one that is designed to recognize the the community’s everyday commitment to making Williamsburg a great place to live, work, and visit,” Mayor Douglas Pons said. “We have had a very challenging year, and this community deserves to be celebrated for doing their part. Because they did, we can come together for Community Appreciation Day, for Fourth of July, and for so many other events taking place in the City throughout the summer.”

Identity Production Studios, a Williamsburg-based business, produced the special video presentation, which will be recorded live and posted online on July 4, 2021. Watch a trailer for the special video presentation:
