[ARCHIVED] Williamsburg Area Arts Commission Presents Virtual Spring Forum

The Williamsburg Area Arts Commission (WAAC) is hosting a spring forum on Wednesday, April 14.

The event’s topic is “Survive, Revive & Thrive: How We Emerge from the Recent Virtual Past.” It will feature keynote speaker Ruby Lopez Harper, vice president of Equity and Local Arts Engagement for Americans for the Arts.

WAAC recently distributed a survey to its area arts organization grantees concerning COVID-19 and its impact on events and programming. The results of that survey have been shared with Harper to help shape the discussion of the forum.

“The Williamsburg Area Arts Commission is confident that the upcoming forum will provide some good ideas about creatively finding paths to reset the arts and cultural programming in our community,” WAAC Chair Patricia Rublein said.

The spring forum will be held virtually from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Register online to attend at williamsburgva.gov/waac

“We want to do all we can to help restore economic health for this valuable industry, Rublein said. “The arts are an important economic driver for the Historic Triangle. It encourages peripheral spending on many levels including tourism, lodging, dining all of which bring us the reputation we have built over generations. Also, it is important to recognize that the arts play a valuable role in education. Arts and music are proven tools to making better learners.”
