City of Williamsburg COVID-19 Vaccination Update – Feb. 20, 2021

Because severe winter weather in the Mid-Atlantic region delayed vaccine shipments, the Greater Williamsburg Clinic in the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center did not open this week. The total number of vaccine doses administered at this site remains at 4,210 since its opening on Friday, Jan. 22, 2021.

Those who had scheduled appointments for either Wednesday, Feb. 17 or Friday, Feb. 19 have been notified that their appointments were moved to the same time and day of the week, either Wednesday, Feb. 24 or Friday, Feb. 26.

The shipment delays did not affect the number of doses we are expected to receive for the week of Feb. 22. The Greater Williamsburg Clinic is planning to administer 100% of the doses it receives through both the delayed and new shipment within the week. In addition to administering hundreds of first doses, our clinic staff is preparing to administer second doses within the next two weeks to all those who received their first dose at the Greater Williamsburg Clinic between Jan. 20 and Feb. 5. Health experts advise the second dose can be administered within six weeks without affecting the vaccine’s efficacy.

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) continues to handle the scheduling for the Greater Williamsburg Clinic, prioritizing those aged 65 and older who have pre-registered with the health department. However, those who received their first-dose appointments through their employers will receive their second-dose appointments through the same channels.

Virginia launched its statewide pre-registration system earlier this week along with a statewide hot line for those who need help pre-registering or have general questions. The online pre-registration system can be found at; the hot line number is 877-VAX-IN-VA (877-829-4682).

We ask for your continued patience as we work toward administering vaccinations to more segments of the general public. For questions about vaccine distribution in Greater Williamsburg, call the information line at 877-724-1954; it is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Answers to Frequently Asked Questions can be found at or at

The Peninsula’s city managers, county administrators, and emergency managers are working with VDH to ensure vaccinations are available to more residents as soon as possible.

The City of Williamsburg has posted its weekly vaccination update to its online hub, which collects the latest coronavirus information and visual data. This data includes the number of vaccinations administered at the Greater Williamsburg Clinic.
