The City maintains its own street system. Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) maintains all county roads. The City has approximately 50 miles of roadways which require paving, painting, sweeping, and signage. The Street Division is responsible for:
- Drainage
- Leaf collection
- Mosquito control
- Sidewalks
- Snow removal
- Traffic signals
