Biography
Stacy Kern-Scheerer was elected to City Council in November 2022.
Stacy is currently the Director of Clinical Programs at William & Mary Law School, the Director of the Law School’s Immigration Clinic, and a Clinical Associate Professor of Law.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Beloit College, a Master of Public Health degree from Boston University School of Public Health, and a law degree from Boston University School of Law. As founding Director of William & Mary Law School’s Immigration Clinic, Stacy and her students represent immigrants in the Hampton Roads region seeking humanitarian immigration protections as well as immigrants applying for naturalization. She has received many awards for teaching and leadership at William & Mary, including the Thomas Jefferson Teaching Award and the President’s Award for Service to the Community. Previously, Stacy served for 10 years as a nonpartisan legislative attorney in her role as Assistant Counsel in the U.S. Senate Office of the Legislative Counsel.
Stacy has served as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Old Towne Medical & Dental Center, as Williamsburg City Representative on the Colonial Community Criminal Justice Board, and as a local PTA volunteer. In her Council appointments, Stacy serves on the School Liaison Committee and Local Emergency Planning Committee.
Stacy lives in the Newport Avenue neighborhood.
